It is reported that a Shopee Philippines executive said yesterday that the company is working on providing customers with faster and cheaper shipping services.
Vincent Lee, head of Shopee Philippines, said delivery costs are one of the barriers that prevent consumers from purchasing goods online.
"I think there are a few things that come to mind when it comes to challenges in the industry," Lee said. "One of the reasons that affects consumers' online shopping is buyers' concerns about product quality and service quality, and another is the cost of express delivery."
The executive said Shopee is currently working with third-party delivery companies to see how to keep costs low.
He also said the platform hopes to deliver packages to consumers faster this year.
"Late last year, one of the third-party delivery companies we work closely with, they just launched a large sorting center in the Laguna area. The facility is fully automated, which helps us reduce wait times for buyers, "He said.
"We are also working towards ensuring that by the end of this year, more than 50 per cent of orders in urban areas are delivered within 3 days of order placement," he added.
