Tens of Thousands of illegal Products Have Been Removed from Shopee

According to Singapore media, due to the rise of live streaming in recent years, a wide range of products are sold through live streaming, including illegal products that are not registered locally. The Health Sciences Authority reminds consumers to be cautious when buying health products online.
A spokesperson said that the Health Sciences Authority works closely with administrators of local social media and e-commerce platforms to regularly monitor, detect and remove online sources or live videos of illegal health products sold in Singapore. These products include unregistered, counterfeit or containing potent drug ingredients or banned substances.
In response, TikTok and Shopee both stated that they cooperated with local regulatory agencies such as the Health Sciences Authority to remove products that do not comply with local regulations and take action against sellers.
According to data released by the Health Sciences Authority at the beginning of the year, the authority seized more than 1.12 million banned health products last year, an increase of more than 50% over the previous year. Last year, more than 12,000 online advertisements for banned health products were removed, twice as many as the previous year, and 1,895 illegal sellers were warned.
