TikTok Shop's Rapid Rise in The Philippines

Filipino consumers are increasingly purchasing items such as clothes, cosmetics and mobile phones through TikTok Shop, showing the social media platform's huge potential in the fast-growing e-commerce sector.
Jonah Ople, head of fashion category at TikTok Shop Philippines, revealed at TikTok Shop's first cross-border merchant private meeting that the platform's total merchandise transaction volume grew 2.28 times in the first half of the year, which "clearly demonstrates TikTok Shop's growing influence as a major e-commerce hub in the region."
Ople said that when buyers visit TikTok Shop, they usually buy goods such as fashion and accessories, beauty and personal care, and electronics and home appliances. As purchase orders grow, more sellers have appeared on the platform to promote their products.
The number of affiliate creators grew 87% in the first half of the year, a significant increase that highlights the recognition of the TikTok platform by content creators, not only for content creation, but also to increase income through product promotion.
Ople pointed out that the popularity of these entrepreneurs is increasing with the platform's daily live broadcast volume growing 21% in the first half of the year. It is expected that TikTok Shop's purchase orders will continue to grow during the upcoming holiday season, when consumer spending usually increases.
