On December 5, TEMU was suspended for failing to complete registration in Vietnam on schedule. At present, TEMU's Vietnamese website has quietly changed to English (previously in Vietnamese), and announced the suspension of activities, which are also presented in English.
The announcement released by the platform stated that TEMU is working with the Ministry of E-commerce and Digital Economy and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam to register for a license to operate e-commerce services in Vietnam.
A person in charge of the Ministry of E-commerce and Digital Economy of Vietnam said in an interview with the media that they have asked the cross-border e-commerce platform TEMU to suspend sales in Vietnam until a license is obtained.
Previously, the relevant Vietnamese authorities required TEMU to complete the registration procedures with the Ministry of Industry and Trade by November 30, 2024, otherwise it would be suspended. However, as of the November 2024 deadline, TEMU has not completed the license registration.
Regarding consumer rights, representatives of the Ministry of E-commerce and Digital Economy revealed that the authorities recommend that consumers consider two options: wait for TEMU to complete the registration, which may enable pending orders to be fulfilled;
If the goods are not delivered within the promised time, please request a refund. He added: “I have personally placed orders with TEMU and received refunds for delayed deliveries. At one point, TEMU even told me that the item would be free if it eventually arrived.”
