Maybank and TikTok Shop Malaysia are about to launch a new initiative called the ASEAN SME Upskilling and Digitalisation Programme, which aims to enhance the digital capabilities of SMEs in the region.

The pilot programme, expected to be launched in Malaysia next month, will include webinars, workshops and a six-month accelerator programme to provide SMEs with comprehensive support to help them better master digital tools and technologies.
Syed Ahmad Tawfik Albar, Group CEO of Maybank Community Financial Services, said the programme will provide entrepreneurs with valuable opportunities to experience first-hand how to use digital solutions, content-driven e-commerce strategies and account management technologies.

In addition, Maybank plans to prioritise women entrepreneurs under its HERpower framework, with the goal of increasing the proportion of women-led SMEs from the current 20% to at least 25% by 2026, overcoming challenges in accessing capital and expanding businesses through customised financial services, mentoring and business development support.
