According to a survey of online merchants in Southeast Asia by Lazada and Kantar, 93% of merchants hope to drive sales growth by using artificial intelligence (AI).

The survey covered 1,214 online merchants in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, and released a report titled "Bridging the AI Gap: Online Seller Adoption Perceptions and Trends in Southeast Asia".

The report shows that although 68% of sellers are already familiar with AI, they face cost-effectiveness and time-consuming issues during implementation.

Although 89% of respondents agree that AI can help improve productivity, 61% still underestimate its overall benefits. 93% of merchants believe that AI can save costs in the long run, but 64% point out that the implementation process is time-consuming and cost-effective.

To help merchants better utilize AI, Lazada has launched the "Online Seller Artificial Intelligence Readiness Guidebook" and a series of AI features such as smart product optimization, driven translation services and dedicated AI assistants to improve seller efficiency and business growth. The study shows that 67% of sellers are highly satisfied with Lazada's AI features.
