Vietnam Taxation Bureau: Strictly Check the Tax Declaration and Payment of Live Streaming Sellers

According to Vietnamese media reports, Mai Shan, deputy director of the State Taxation Department, issued a document requiring tax departments in provinces and cities to continue to synchronously and comprehensively carry out tax declaration, payment and use of electronic invoices for units, operators and individuals engaged in e-commerce, e-commerce trading platforms, affiliate marketing and other activities.



Entities that provide digital information content products and earn income from advertising activities and software provision are subject to taxation. In particular, taxation of organizations and individuals engaged in online business or live broadcast sales of goods and services.



Recently, information appeared on social networks that many people live broadcast sales, with single-game sales reaching tens of billions of dong. The prices of many goods sold during the live broadcast are lower than those sold by agents and stores.



Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi said at the government's regular press conference on June 1 that online sales live broadcast activities can generate income, which is subject to tax laws and taxes and is subject to the management and supervision of tax authorities.

He also said that the Ministry of Finance manages and supervises online sales live broadcast activities based on two taxes. Individuals live broadcast sales and pay personal income tax, and live broadcast operators can pay a unified tax or declare tax.



Tax revenue from e-commerce activities, including livestream sales, is expected to reach VND83 trillion in 2022 and VND97 trillion in 2023, the Ministry of Finance said.
