On September 24, 2024, the National Peace and Order Preservation Council (NCPO), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the police launched a joint operation in Samutprakarn Province and successfully destroyed an illegal cosmetics production factory.

The operation was commanded by Major General Witthaya Sriprasertphap of the Crime Suppression Department. A total of 76 types of counterfeit and unregistered cosmetics totaling 17,000 items were seized, with a total value of more than 2 million baht.

These illegal products not only infringe on the trademarks of well-known brands, but also pose serious safety hazards due to the lack of necessary production standards and ingredient labeling. The factory environment is poor, the sanitary conditions are extremely poor, and waste beer and sauce boxes are used as packaging materials.

Ms. Nalita, the head of the factory, was arrested for trying to impersonate the owner to evade legal responsibility. Dr. Narong Aphikulwanich, Secretary-General of the FDA, pointed out that these illegal cosmetics seriously threaten the health of consumers and may cause allergic reactions and skin damage.

Ms. Treechada Srithada, spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health, emphasized that the government will adopt a zero-tolerance attitude and crack down on such violations to ensure public health and safety. In the future, the Thai government will continue to strengthen law enforcement to maintain market order and consumer rights.
