2. The Philippines destroyed 3 million smuggled e-cigarette products
Recently, Philippine President Marcos personally went to the Port of Manila to supervise the destruction of a batch of smuggled e-cigarette products worth more than 3.2 billion pesos, demonstrating the government's determination to combat illegal trade and smuggling.
The operation destroyed about 3 million e-cigarettes and their accessories. These items were seized through 10 law enforcement operations in 2024 at the Port of Manila, Manila International Container Port and the efforts of the Intelligence Group.

In addition to President Marcos, the event was attended by several senior officials including Finance Minister Recto and Trade and Industry Minister Maria Cristina Roque.
Recto emphasized that combating smuggling not only protects the country's economic security, but also increases government tax revenue and provides better services to the public.
3. The Philippines successfully intercepted four suspected smuggled Chinese containers
Recently, the Philippine authorities launched a large-scale operation in Bulacan, Paranaque and Valenzuela, seizing four suspected smuggled containers from China.
The operation was initiated based on an anonymous tip and was jointly carried out by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Office of the Special Envoy Against Transnational Crime (OSETG).

The containers contained daily necessities such as toilet paper, cutlery, soup spoons and small fans, but they were not declared as required. For example, one of the containers was originally declared as rubber bags, but was actually filled with various household items; another container was declared as electric stoves and electric fans, but was actually loaded with smuggled shoes.
The goods came from China, entered the country through the Port of Manila, and were later found to be stored in multiple locations.
